Initial feedback

A bunch of people visited SimpleDiagrams today and decided to give it a whirl, thanks mainly to a posting on Jakub Linowski’s Wireframes blog and a tweet by Balsamiq’s Peldi Guilizzoni. Thanks guys!

As SimpleDiagrams gets more popular, I’ve been focusing more on what’s wrong with the app rather than the positive reports coming in. I don’t have a long history of developing desktop apps for the public, so the story I was playing out in my mind went something like this: I will receive 100 fiery, smoking emails a day from upset users who curse the day they found my app. Even the neighbor’s dog will be unhappy with it, despite the fact that most things can be done with a touchpad.  Hounded, I will retreat to a cathedral steeple, ring the bells wildly and throw stones at the masses below.

Luckily, that hasn’t happened. In fact, the responses so far have been really great. And those who did find some bugs just let me know what was going on and still wished good luck. This motivates me even more to make the app as helpful and easy as possible. Keep the feedback coming!

Based on today’s feedback, including a few bug reports, I’ve posted a new version (1.0.11) with some fixes. I’ll move to a more standardized release schedule soon, but wanted to get this out ASAP.

And if anybody is having success with SimpleDiagrams and wants to share some examples, please do send them along (daniel@simplediagrams.com) and I’ll post for all to see.
